The answer to this question is near identical to that given for why we might feel the spirit while wewatched a movie or film. Simply put, a spiritual impression is both a inspiration or revelation to the mind and a phenomena (not just a feeling or emotion) in the heart. Spiritual epistemology is a complex interaction and constant evaluation of the feelings of your heart, the thoughts of your mind, your body, the light of Christ, and the outside influence of the spirit (D&C 8:2). The witness (if there is one) should also be compared with revealed pneumatology. In the case of Elder Dunn's stories, we felt good when we heard them. Boyd Packer pointed out that feelings and “spiritual” events can come from three sources: 1) your own feelings, 2) Satan, or 3) the Holy Ghost. You must evaluate your feelings usingmethods to understand which is occurring in any given circumstance. More information is found at the linked articles.
