Question: Did Joseph Smith write in the Book of Mormon, "every error and truth discussed in New York"?

This is not a problem in LDS theology because God prepares the way for his wonderful works

Alexander Campbell, founder of Disciples of Christ, wrote in the first able review of the Book of Mormon. This prophet Smith, through his stone spectacles, wrote on the plates of Nephi, in his Book of Mormon, every error and almost every truth discussed in New York for the last ten years. He decided all the great controversies:—infant baptism, ordination, the trinity, regeneration, repentance, justification, the fall of man, the atonement, transubstantiation, fasting penance, church government, religious experience, the call to the ministry, the general resurrection, eternal punishment, who may baptize, and even the questions of free masonry, republican government and the rights of man.
Sandra Tanner, Talk given on March 13, 2010 at the Capstone Conference held at Calvary Chapel Salt Lake City'

It is claimed that Joseph Smith decided to write in the Book of Mormon, "every error and truth discussed in New York." [1]

this is not a problem in LDS theology because:

  • God prepares the way for his wonderful works
  • God prepares the people to receive the truth
  • A perfect time for the Book of Mormon to come to light
  • The Book of Mormon answers important questions
