Hauck proposed refinements to Sorenson's model,<ref>{{Book:Hauck:Deciphering the Geography of the Book of Mormon}} </ref> but one reviewer considered his alterations too radical to be mere refinements, and on the ten essential points discussed [[Book_of_Mormon_geography/New_World#Ten_essential_features_of_geography|here]] found it vastly inferior to Sorenson's model.<ref>{{FR-1-1-7}}</ref>

Real world suggested correlates in this model:

* Narrow neck of land - no isthmus connection, but considers it a "narrow corridor"
* River Sidon - Usamacinta River
* Hill Ramah/Cumorah -  {{nw}}

A major criticism of Hauck's model involves the requirement of ''two'' areas named ''Bountiful'' in the new world.<ref>{{FR-1-1-8}}; see also a short review at {{FR-1-1-9}}</ref>  Given the problems outlined in reviews, this model has not gained much traction among LDS scholars, though it served as a spur for further work.
