Question: Why might one be disciplined within the Church?

Question: Why might one be disciplined within the Church?

The purpose of Church discipline is to save the soul of the transgressor, to protect the innocent and to protect the Church

Elder M. Russell Ballard notes:

The purpose is threefold: [1] to save the soul of the transgressor, [2] to protect the innocent, and [3] to safeguard the Church’s purity, integrity, and good name. [1]
